What have we been up to?

  • We have arrived @ Robinwood!

    Wed 27 Mar 2019 CM

    Hello everyone!

The team has arrived safely! We've survived the woodland walk (with picnic lunch), made up our rooms - don't ask about our duvet sorting skills, and are currently taking part in activities. For Valley group this is the piranha pool, River group it's canoeing and for Lake it's the Challenge Course.

Mr Erskine, Mrs Walters and Mrs Watson have been extremely proud of us all.

We look forward to our yummy evening meal (which we've personally pre-ordered), before a fun-packed Team Challenge which everyone comes together for. Then it's hot chocolate, a team meeting/review and bed!

Happy children having a blast :-)

Please do check back tomorrow for more from our intrepid explorers!

  • Kingswood #2

    Tue 11 Sep 2018 CM

It's been another fabulous day at Kingswood and the sun is shining - yeah!  The children all slept well and enjoyed a delicious breakfast before getting straight into activities.  Our groups were thrilled by outdoor laser and aeroball, which sounds terrifying (we'll let the children tell you all about that!), and everyone took part with buckets of enthusiasm. The groups have been working together so well with lots of new friendships forged as children (and staff!) overcome personal challenges. Nothing defeats Y5!

After a yummy lunch, it was then onto archery, nightline and leap of faith - busy but all good. Photos will appear tomorrow after a slight technical hitch, but all is well if a little tired this afternoon! Miss McKinney is visiting tonight and can't wait to catch up with everyone - the classroom sure is quiet without them! Back in time for the usual home time routines tomorrow unless you are collecting - if this is the case, please confirm with the school office. Here's to a fun-packed evening of mini olympics by all accounts. Watch out Usain, here comes Y5!

  • Kingswood 2018 :-)

    Mon 10 Sep 2018 CM/JC

Hi parents and carers of our super Y5 children!

All is well at Kingswood - the children are having a blast! The afternoon started with a tour of the centre before activities - by all accounts they threw themselves into (or onto!) the 3G swing, the indoor climbing wall and orienteeting.  It's currently tea after which the full group moves onto tales around the campfire and smores, before  finally falling into bed for a good and long sleep ;-)

Everyone has been brilliant and so supportive of one another.  Mrs Carter is hugely proud, as always we are - Miss McKinney can't wait to see them all shortly and again tomorrow.

A fabulous first day of making precious and long-lasting memories :-)

  • Hot off the press - WOOD GROUP complete the challenge course 🤗

  • The last morning and some tired faces!

    Wed 18 Apr 2018 CM

After a full night's sleep we are ready for the last activities before it's home time. Everyone slept well and again enjoyed a hearty breakfast before climbing, archery and nightline 😊 Children are slightly dishevelled but all very happy, and it's actually warm!

We've had the best time and have some magical memories and tales to tell - see you soon!

  • Bedtime at Robinwood!

    Tue 17 Apr 2018 CM

After another brilliant day, it's all quiet at Robinwood with only the sound of snoozing echoing around the site 😪. After completing Team Challenges and some rather questionable drawings 🤔, everyone was out like a light. Sleep well everyone and goodnight from Robinwood!

Just to remind parents and carers that Mrs Hill will send out a Parentmail message re-confirming the time of our arrival back to school.

    See you all tomorrow 😀!

  • Tuesday 17thApril

    Tue 17 Apr 2018 CM/LS/RE

    Hello everyone at home!

We're having a fantastic time at Robinwood.  After a good sleep and the infamous and hearty breakfast, we were straight into activities this morning.

For Forest Group, it's been Dungeon of Doom, attacking the challenge course and archery with some fabulous skills on display and great problem solving / team work to escape the dungeon - just in the knick of time, phew! After all, we didn't want to miss our lunch :-)

For Hill Group, it's been a morning of giant swinging, trapeze and a very last minute escape from the piranha pool - relief all 'round! We weren't sure you'd see us again as the fishies were swarming!

For Wood Group, they've been off climbing the Robinwood super wall with impressive speed and agility. Then it was onto the the dizzy heights of the crate challenge (which did not topple, note to Hill Group!) and the Dragon's Quest during which the children worked really hard to find the golden egg - well done Wood Group!

We've all just enjoyed a very tasty lunch (more food, there is a theme here!) Mrs Walters and Miss McKinney are arriving this afternoon and we look forward to yet more fun at Robinwood. Mr Erskine, Miss Smith and Mrs Watson have been so impressed with the children's attitiudes and the approach they've taken to all they have been asked to do. They are, as always, a credit to our school.

Happy days at Robinwood = magical memories being created :-)

  • 18:00: ROBINWOOD UPDATE (16.4.18)

    Mon 16 Apr 2018 CM/LS/ES

The children and staff have arrived safely at Robinwood - and in the sunshine! smiley On arrival, we made our own beds (well pulled the duvet cover onto the duvet!) This in itself proved something of a challenge for some of the children - can you guess who?  It was then straight into activity groups. Behaviour has been fantastic and everyone is taking part with lots of enthusiasm. Our focus areas for the visit will be on teamwork and listening skills; the children are already proving how good they are at both with instructions being followed very well indeed. Well done to everyone!

Wood Group whom are working with Miss Smith and Abbie (from Robinwood) have been enjoying views of the spectacular countryside whilst partaking of the  Giant's Swing!  Everyone enjoyed this challenge, especially Miss Smith!  Children in this group are now attempting to escape the Dungeon of Doom - good luck to them, as I hear it's nearly evening meal time so let's hope they get out in time!

Mrs Watson's Hill Group and Robinwood's Arthur have tackled the crate challenge which involved everyone taking turns to lead, attached to a very secure (and long!) safety rope to create the Robinwood Shard of crates!  The crate tower got higher and higher and Hill Group managed to reach the top before it came crashing down - after which they laughed at the mess which had to be then cleared up, by Hill Group! This group have also worked together on Night Line wearing blackout goggles and using only their hearing and touch to navigate the Night Line course whilst avoiding the pesky Robinwood squirrels who get up to no good with water guns surprise

Forest Group with Mr Erskine and Bob (who is our Group Leader) have bravely tackled caving whizzing through the tunnels and twists with speed and superb flexibility -  we'll call this group the bendy gang in future! Forest Group were super kind to one another as they encouraged friends to have a go and everyone came out the other side in one piece, thankfully leaving the Robinwood zombi inside!

With more activities tonight and a yummy evening meal plus supper, we should hear some very sound sleepers come lights out, we hope!
